Earlier this month, DVMS launched a new website. I’ll get to the what, where, and why in a minute. First the who: a big thank you to two of DVMS’s Montessori Dads, Jared Bennett and Justin Hogeterp, who were both a huge help in getting everything up and running.
The new site can be found at dvms.ca (any bookmarks to dundasvalleymontessori.ca will redirect you to the new site seamlessly) and offers a clean, minimal design. The minimal design doesn’t mean we’re short on features however. Now, when you read our articles or follow the links in the PATH newsletter to the full articles on the website, you will notice you have the ability to comment, and we’d love to hear from you.
I’ve written a bit in past articles about the need for discussion rather than shouting from entrenched positions, so we thought it best to open up the discussion. We can only all learn, progress, and develop by talking to each other, so don’t be shy, speak up. You can also comment on recent PATH articles, and we will be adding some older articles that we would love to open up to further discussion.
The new site is part of our tenth anniversary revamp, which has also included a new logo, t-shirts and bags, and a number of past and upcoming events. We have also bravely ventured into the Twitter and Facebook realms over the past year, making us even easier to keep up with.
If you haven’t already, check out some of the other features on the new site: Why Montessori?, Montessori Links and lots of Videos, funny staff photos, a Google calendar that allows you to add events directly to your own and that we can use to set reminder emails, and the ability to fill out and submit your enrolment form online. We will be adding more forms in the future and will be looking at setting up the reminder emails for September, once we figure out the logistics. You can also choose to subscribe to the site so that you are notified whenever we post something new.
In the meantime, we’d love to know what you think, the good, the bad, the ugly. Let us know in the comment section of this article if there are any features you’d like to see, anything that’s not working for you, or to smother us with lavish praise (but be sure to praise the effort and hard work that led to our success and don’t just tell us we’re smart).
