If you’ve been following the progress of our herb garden over the last few weeks, you know how hard the Upper East crew has worked. This week they built a trellis, installed it, and tied some vine plants to it. We can’t wait to see how it grows over the summer. Enjoy the slideshow above.
Back inside, the children are following their interests and exploring the topics they want to learn more about. If you’re a regular reader of DVMS publications, you know that we have put a lot of thought, research, and discussion into the integration of technology into our classrooms and its effects on children’s development (see here and here). Scenes like the one above assure us that we’re on the right track, as the girls are using both new school and old school sources for research.
The children are also working on preparing and presenting plays to each other these days. This a great way for the children to engage in a number of academic and social activities, from outlining, writing, assigning roles, managing rehearsals, and performing for others.
Remember, we are off to Luna for our year-end campout next week. Please check your inboxes for a detailed email that went out this week. Upper East will be at Luna from Wednesday to Friday next week.
