Our goal was to provide a more detailed glimpse into the DVMS Montessori environments to see what your children are up to, learn a little bit more about Montessori materials, how they’re used, and their purpose, and to create a collection of posts that can be combined to offer the general public an idea of what Montessori is and how it works.

This beautiful Casa North scene is one repeated in all true Montessori environments: children helping each other learn, here with the Montessori Sandpaper Letters. (Check out our Facebook page cover photo for another example, as well as all sorts of other goodness).
Some big work going on in Casa North’s Montessori environment here: Large Number Cards and Golden Bead addition. They made their own equation!
Montessori children learn to write before they read, combining sounds phonetically to construct words, which makes reading easier to learn and allows students to express themselves: “I am sorry for setting a bad example.”
After practising their cursive writing, Montessori Casa children have the opportunity to add some heartfelt drawings to their work, which creates a sense of ownership and pride.
